Asimakopoulos’ Career High 21 Fuels Trojans Conference Win

COLBY, Kan. — The Colby Trojans men's basketball team turned in its most complete offensive performance of the conference season Saturday (Jan. 3), erupting for 89 points to earn its second conference victory of the year.
With the roster fully healthy, the Trojans showcased their depth and balance, shooting an efficient 53.6 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from three-point range, while placing four players in double figures.
Freshman forward Giannis Asimakopoulos led the way with a career-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, knocking down four three-pointers and adding seven rebounds. Aliou Diallo was relentless attacking the basket, finishing with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while converting 9-of-11 attempts at the free-throw line.
Nana Keutcha controlled the paint with 13 points and nine rebounds, and D.J. Cason provided an instant spark off the bench, scoring 12 points on an ultra-efficient 5-of-7 shooting performance in just 18 minutes, including a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
Colby's offensive rhythm was evident throughout the game, as the Trojans moved the ball effectively and played unselfish basketball, recording 18 assists on 30 made field goals. The Trojans also capitalized at the free-throw line, knocking down 19-of-24 attempts.
Defensively, Colby was active in the passing lanes, tallying seven steals, while maintaining control of the glass with 33 total rebounds and limiting empty possessions. The 89-point output marked Colby's highest scoring total in conference play this season, highlighting the team's growing chemistry and offensive development.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 4–10 (2–6 KJCCC) having now won two of their last three conference games as they continue to find their stride heading into the heart of the KJCCC schedule.
The Trojans will look to carry the momentum from the victory into the upcoming conference matchup this Wednesday (Jan. 7) against Pratt.
