CONCORDIA, Kan. — The No. 11-ranked Trojans volleyball team continued its dominant run through KJCCC play with a decisive three-set sweep over Cloud County Community College (25-22, 25-17, 25-11) on Wednesday (Oct. 8) evening in Concordia. The Trojans' relentless consistency and offensive precision propelled them to their 10th consecutive conference victory and eighth straight win overall, improving to 18-4 on the season and 10-0 in KJCCC action.
Colby's attack was firing on all cylinders, producing an impressive .327 team hitting percentage while controlling the pace from start to finish. Serbian freshman Lena Mihaljica led the offensive charge with 14 kills on a .423 clip, adding two aces, four digs, and 16.5 total points in another standout performance. Freshman middle blocker Isadora Carrareto was nearly flawless at the net, registering 10 kills on 12 attempts without an error (.833), while Ella Dridi delivered a strong all-around performance with 10 kills and 11 digs to round out a balanced front-line effort.
Sophomore setter Amanda Caputi efficiently directed the Trojan offense, recording 37 assists to go with three kills, two aces, and six total points. Anita Ferri anchored the back row with a team-high 12 digs, and Isabella Martins contributed four kills and two block assists to bolster Colby's front line.
Defensively, the Trojans held Cloud County to a .098 hitting percentage, limiting the Thunderbirds to just 11 points in the final frame. Colby also totaled 10 team blocks and six service aces, showcasing the squad's depth, balance, and disciplined execution on both sides of the ball.
With the win, Colby remains firmly atop the KJCCC standings and continues its pursuit of a conference championship. The Trojans return home Saturday (Oct. 11) for a pivotal matchup against Hutchinson Community College. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and pack the Colby Event Center as the Trojans enter the final stretch of the regular season.
