COLBY, Kan. — The No. 12-ranked Colby Community College volleyball team showed resilience on Saturday (Sept. 27), overcoming a slow start to win three straight sets and secure a 3–1 victory over Seward County. With the win, the Trojans remain unbeaten in conference play at 7–0 and improve to 15–4 overall. They lead the conference by one game.
After Seward County struck first, Colby responded with poise, controlling the net and serving game to swing momentum. The Trojans hit an efficient .315 as a team, with four different players finishing in double figures for points. Lena Mihaljica paced the offense with 14 kills on 26 swings (.462), adding four service aces and three block assists for a team-high 19.5 points. Ella Dridi delivered another strong two-way performance, finishing with 13 kills, seven digs, and three aces for 16.0 points. Karlotta Kattai added 11 kills, three aces, and five digs for 15.0 points, giving Colby another consistent option on the outside.
In the middle, Isadora Carrareto was nearly unstoppable, tallying seven kills on 11 attempts (.636) while chipping in three block assists. Isabella Martins contributed across the board with four kills, four aces, and six total blocks (one solo, five assists), good for 11.5 points. Running the show was setter Amanda Caputi, who turned in another standout effort with 43 assists, nine digs, and four total blocks, orchestrating an offense that consistently found holes in the Saints' defense.
Defensively, Isabella Byrd anchored the back row with a team-high 12 digs, while Colby's front line combined for 18 total blocks to limit Seward County's attack. The Trojans' balance and depth proved too much for the Saints, as Colby controlled the final three sets to secure the 3–1 victory.
