Boakye’s Podium Finish Highlights Women’s Strong Start to Indoor Season

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Colby Trojans women's track and field team made an immediate statement to open the 2026 indoor season Friday (Jan. 16), delivering a strong, well-rounded performance at the Washburn Rust Buster that included a podium finish.
The 300 meters proved to be a highlight for the Trojans, as sophomore Beatrice Boakye powered her way to a third-place finish with a time of 40.53. Ashleah Hewitt placed seventh (42.20), Amanda Yeboah finishing eighth (42.33), and Faith Vine taking 13th (43.11), showcasing Colby's depth in the 300 meters.
Colby's women shined early in the sprint and hurdle events, led by Dekanya Webb, who opened her season with a strong seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.31.
In the 400 meters, Randieunna Jeffery finished 11th with a time of 1:02.17. The mark places Jeffery ninth all-time in Colby program history, marking a strong start to her indoor season. Cross Country standout Nadine Mcintyre opened her year in the distance events, placing 18th in the mile with a time of 5:24.38.
In the field events, All-American volleyball athlete Karlotta Kattai made her collegiate track and field debut in the shot put, finishing 34th with a throw of 9.77 meters (32-0.75), adding another positive note to the Trojans' opening meet.
With a podium finish, the Washburn Rust Buster provided a strong opening to the indoor season for the Colby women. The Trojans will look to build on this momentum as they continue through the indoor schedule next weekend in Pittsburg, KS.
