Women's Basketball Fall to Garden City in Regular-Season Home Finale

COLBY, Kan. - The Colby Trojans women's basketball team dropped its regular-season home finale Saturday (Feb. 28), falling 60-45 to Garden City inside the Colby Event Center.
The Trojans (15-14, 12-11) struggled to find a consistent offensive rhythm, shooting 32.6 percent from the floor and 21.1 percent from three-point range. Despite staying within striking distance early, turnovers proved costly as Colby committed 35 miscues, leading to 23 points for the Broncbusters.
Garden City (16-12, 11-12) set the tone in the opening quarter, jumping out to a 19-10 advantage. The Trojans responded defensively in the second, holding the visitors to just six points to cut the deficit to 25-21 at halftime. However, the Broncbusters regrouped after the break, outscoring Colby 35-24 over the final two quarters to secure the 15-point win.
Sokhna Ndiaye led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-23 shooting while adding six free throws. London Turner provided a spark off the bench with 10 points and six rebounds, and Marshea Fisher pulled down a game-high 11 boards.
Colby was paced by Dessirae Ulmer and Jera Kruleski with 12 points apiece. Ulmer was aggressive attacking the rim, converting 8-of-10 at the free-throw line and grabbing five rebounds. Kruleski knocked down four three-pointers, while Elia Ando added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds off the bench.
The Trojans held a narrow 27-28 rebounding margin but were unable to overcome the turnover disparity and 41.2 percent shooting from Garden City. Colby also managed just 20 points in the paint compared to 28 for the Broncbusters.
Colby will look to respond against No. 2 Butler after dropping a 68-55 decision in the first meeting, when the Grizzlies built a 40-14 halftime lead before the Trojans stormed back to outscore them 41-28 in the second half. Tip is set for Wednesday (March 4) at 5:30 p.m.
