Colby's rodeo team is set to head south for the Oklahoma Panhandle State Rodeo, with competition running April 23–25 at Henry C. Hitch Arena in Guymon, OK. This will be the teams last rodeo of the spring season, with most of the season going under first year head coach Karson Harris.
Action begins Thursday with slack at 2:00 p.m., featuring team roping and goat tying, before the first performance kicks off at 7:00 p.m. The rodeo continues Friday with slack at 9:00 a.m. and another performance at 7:00 p.m., culminating in Saturday's short round at 2:00 p.m., where the top competitors will battle for titles.
Colby will be well represented across multiple events. In tie-down roping, Kade Homm looks to make an impact, while the women's breakaway roping features a strong group in Mara Kats, Alaura Crockett, Sadee Adamson, and Dali Reser.
In the arena's rough-and-tough events, Lakoddah Downes will compete in steer wrestling, bringing power and precision to the bulldogging competition. Reser will also double up in goat tying alongside Brooklynn Hughes, where quick hands and clean runs will be critical.
The Trojans will also pair up in team roping, with the duo of Kade Homm and Lakoddah Downes aiming to put together fast, efficient runs against a competitive field. In the barrel racing, Colby sends a talented lineup of Mara Kats, Alaura Crockett, Emma Krase, and Brooklynn Hughes.
As the season nears its conclusion, every run counts, and this weekend in Guymon offers Colby a chance to make a statement before the postseason push begins.
