Track & Field Tune Up for Regionals at FHSU Classic, Drake Relays Await Delestre
The FHSU Alex Francis Classic is set for Thursday in Hays, KS and the Colby Trojans track & field squads are ready. Held at the Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex, the meet will feature a full slate of events beginning at noon with field events before track finals get underway at 2:00 p.m.

Colby brings a strong presence in the short sprints, led by Ashleah Hewitt on the women's side and Walter Parker for the men. Both athletes entered in the 100 and 200 meters. In the 400 meters, Isabelle Gillham leads the women's side, while Redith Stubbs headlines the men's group with a top-10 entry time coming into the meet. He'll be joined by Iran Mixon on the track.
Over the hurdles, Randieunna Jeffery will compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles, while Harley McPherson represents the Trojans on the men's side. Jeffery currently holds a top-10 hurdles mark in school history.
In the men's 800 meters, Alexandre LeRoy enters with the second-fastest time in the field, while Thomas Calas sits sixth. The 5,000 meters could be a highlight for Colby. Nadine McIntyre brings the second-fastest time in the entire field, and the top junior college mark, making her a clear favorite to contend for the win on the women's side. On the men's side, Japhet holds the second-best entry time, setting up another potential top finish for the Trojans in the distance races.
The throws group also features several athletes to watch. Jared Cox enters the discus with the seventh-best mark in the field, while freshman Tristan King has already made an impact with the fourth-best hammer throw mark coming into the meet. In the javelin, Sumner Homolka stands out as one of the top competitors, owning the second-best mark in Colby program history.
Colby will also be represented on a big stage at the Drake Relays, as Kenan Delestre is set to compete in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Scheduled for Thursday (April 23) around 7 p.m. in Des Moines, IA, the event will feature a deep and competitive field, giving Delestre an opportunity to test himself against top talent from across the country.
The next stop is the regional meet in Arkansas City,KS, hosted by Cowley College, running from April 30 through May 2.
