The Colby Trojans track and field teams are set to continue their outdoor season this weekend (April 10-11) as they travel to El Dorado to compete in the Grizzly Gold Invite, hosted by Butler Community College at BG Products Veteran Stadium.
The two-day meet will feature a full slate of field and track events, beginning Friday afternoon with field events at 3 p.m. and a rolling schedule of distance races starting at 5 p.m. Saturday resumes with field events at 10 a.m. and a full day of running events beginning at 11 a.m., highlighted by relays, hurdles, and sprint finals.
Colby enters the meet with strong momentum, led by a pair of KJCCC Track Athlete of the Week honorees. On the men's side, Kenan Delestre earned recognition after posting a national qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. On the women's side, Randieunna Jeffery continues to impress in the 400-meter hurdles, recording the second-fastest time in program history.
The Trojans have also seen depth across the roster, with Javano Bridgewater adding two national qualifying marks on the men's side. For the women, Beatrice Boakye has been a key contributor, also posting two qualifying marks, including the sixth-fastest 400-meter time in the nation. Both of these individuals got KJCCC Athletes of the Week a couple weeks back as well.
With multiple national qualifiers already secured and several athletes trending upward, Colby will look to build on its early-season success against a competitive field this weekend.
