King Earns All-American Honors as Men Compete at NJCAA Indoor Championships
The Colby Trojans men’s track and field team wrapped up competition at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend with several strong performances, highlighted by an All-American finish and multiple school-record efforts.
TOPEKA, Kan. - The Colby Trojans men's track and field team wrapped up competition at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend (March 6-7) with several strong performances, highlighted by an All-American finish and multiple school-record efforts.
Leading the way for the Trojans was Tristan King in the weight throw. King delivered a standout performance with a mark of 57-7.50 ft, setting a new Colby school record while finishing eighth overall to earn All-American honors. His throw placed him among the top competitors in the nation and capped off an impressive season in the throwing events.
On the track, Javano Bridgewater led the Trojans in the 400 meters. Bridgewater clocked a time of 47.35 in the preliminary round, finishing 11th overall in a highly competitive field and narrowly missing a spot in the final.
The Trojans also saw strong performances in the 800 meters as Alexandre LeRoy and Thomas Calas both delivered notable runs. LeRoy finished 11th overall in the preliminaries with a time of 1:52.50, setting a new Colby school record in the process. Calas followed closely behind with a time of 1:53.43 to place 17th, recording the third-fastest time in program history.
LeRoy later returned to the track to compete in the 1000 meters, finishing 21st with a time of 2:34.79. Colby also competed in the distance medley relay, where the quartet of Alexandre LeRoy, Leonardo Clement, Thomas Calas, and Kenan Delestre combined to post a time of 10:15.65 to finish 14th overall.
Saturday's competition continued with the 3000 meters, where Enoha Reizabal-Bellanger represented the Trojans and finished 18th with a time of 8:35.90 against a deep national field.
The Trojans wrapped up the meet in the 4x400 meter relay as Harley McPherson, Javano Bridgewater, Jairus Turrbiates, and Irad Mixon teamed up to run a time of 3:18.28, finishing 16th overall.
The meet brought the indoor season to a close for the Trojans, highlighted by King's All-American performance, a school record in the weight throw, and another school record set by LeRoy in the 800 meters as Colby competed against the top junior college athletes in the country.
