Men's Basketball Drops Road Conference Game at Pratt

PRATT, Kan. - The Colby Trojans men's basketball team dropped a road conference matchup Saturday (Feb. 21), falling 74–60 to Pratt Community College.
Colby stayed competitive early but was unable to overcome Pratt's strong shooting and rebounding advantage as the Beavers pulled away early and never really looked back.
The Trojans briefly held the early momentum, but Pratt responded with a strong offensive push to take a 43–31 lead into halftime. The Beavers continued to build their advantage in the second half, outscoring Colby 31–29 and leading by as many as 19 points before securing the 14-point win.
D.J. Cason paced the Trojans with a game-high 21 points, shooting 6-of-15 from the field, 3-of-7 from three-point range, and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. Aliou Diallo added 11 points and three rebounds, while Rhett Kats contributed eight points, knocking down two three-pointers. Gabe Njenga provided an efficient eight points on 4-of-4 shooting with three rebounds and a block. Nana Keutcha anchored the boards for Colby with a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with two points. Giannis Asimakopoulos added eight points off the bench, and Tyce Bollers chipped in two points.
Colby shot 34.5 percent (20-of-58) from the field and 30.8 percent (8-of-26) from three-point range, while converting 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line. Pratt shot 43.6 percent from the floor and connected on 15 three-pointers, finishing 34.1 percent (15-of-44) from beyond the arc. The Beavers also held a significant 43–31 rebounding advantage and dished out 13 assists compared to Colby's three.
Both teams committed eight turnovers, with each side scoring seven points off those opportunities. Pratt also held advantages in second-chance points (10–4) and bench scoring (22–10), while both teams scored 18 points in the paint.
The Trojans return home looking to bounce back with back-to-back conference matchups, hosting Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Wednesday (Feb. 25) before welcoming Garden City Community College on Saturday (Feb. 28) as they continue conference play.
