The Colby Trojans equestrian team is set to be represented on a national stage this weekend (March 20-22) as Kairi Quinn and Sidney Morgan travel to compete in the IHSA Western Semi-Finals at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Both riders earned their spots after strong performances at Regionals on Feb. 22, where only the top two competitors in each division advance. Quinn and Morgan rose to the occasion, each winning their respective classes to punch their tickets to the next stage of postseason competition.
Now, they will face off against top riders from multiple regions across the country, all vying for a spot at the IHSA National Championships. The top four finishers in each class at this weekend's competition will advance to Nationals, scheduled for May 1–3 in Mill Spring, North Carolina.
Quinn is set to compete on Saturday in both individual Level 2 Horsemanship and Ranch Riding. Morgan will take to the arena on Sunday, competing in individual Level 1 Horsemanship.
With the competition field narrowing and the stakes rising, both riders carry momentum and confidence into the weekend. Their performances will determine whether Colby will be represented at the national level later this spring.
