NEW ORLEANS, La. — The Colby Community College women's cross country team made its debut in the national conversation this week, entering the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NJCAA Division I National Coaches' Poll at No. 25, released last Wednesday (Oct. 15).
The ranking marks a strong step forward for a young Trojan squad that has shown steady improvement throughout the fall. Sophomore Nadine McIntyre has been a key leader, turning in back-to-back standout performances in October. Most recently, she ran a personal-best 18:58.4 in the 5K at the FHSU Tiger Open (Oct. 11), placing 28th overall in a competitive field. A few weeks earlier, she recorded another personal best with a 22:32.9 in the 6K at the Gans Creek Classic (Sept. 26), finishing 16th overall.
Freshman Laina Larson also contributed a strong mark earlier in the season at the Wichita State JK Gold Classic (Sept. 6), clocking a 21:54.2 in the 5K, her personal best to date.
The Trojans have competed with consistency across their lineup, with seven total athletes representing Colby on the women's side this fall. That depth has helped fuel the team's steady climb and establish a solid foundation heading into the championship stretch.
Colby will look to build on its national ranking and carry its momentum into the Region 6 Championships, hosted right at home in Colby this Friday (Oct. 24). Fans can find full meet information under the Cross Country tab on the official Colby Athletics website.
