No. 7 Women’s Wrestling Continues Strong Season in Latest NJCAA Poll
The Colby Trojans women’s wrestling team remains ranked No. 7 nationally in the latest NJCAA poll, backed by strong individual performances and consistent team success these past few weeks.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Colby Trojans women's wrestling team remains ranked No. 7 nationally in the latest NJCAA poll posted Thursday (Feb. 19), backed by strong individual performances and consistent team success these past few weeks.
Destiny Gonzales holds the No. 2 national ranking at 138 pounds, while Catherine Dutton is also ranked No. 2 at 207 pounds. The duo has been instrumental in Colby's success, each contributing 12 points toward the team's total. Kaylen McAtee is ranked sixth at 160 pounds and has added six points, helping the Trojans compile 30 team points overall.
Since the previous poll, Colby delivered an impressive showing at the Women's Wrestling Coaches Association Duals, finishing sixth overall. Dutton led the Trojans with a dominant performance, going undefeated throughout the duals.
The Trojans continued their momentum at the Cerritos Open, where Dutton secured a third-place finish. McAtee also placed third, while Gonzales added a sixth-place finish to round out another strong weekend for Colby.
With multiple nationally ranked wrestlers and consistent top finishes in major competitions, the Trojans continue to establish themselves as one of the top programs in the NJCAA in just their first season. The Trojans are currently preparing to compete in the NJCAA Women's Wrestling National Championships set for March 6–7 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.
