PITTSBURG, KS. - The Colby Trojans women's track & field team delivered a strong showing at the KJCCC Indoor Championships, finishing ninth overall out of 12 teams with 22 points while posting multiple personal bests, school all-time marks, and a new school record.
The Trojans saw strong depth in the 60-meter preliminaries, with three athletes placing in the top 10. Ashleah Hewitt led the group with an eighth-place finish in 7.68, setting a new personal best and moving to seventh all-time in school history. Faith Vine (7.70) and Amanda Yeboah (7.70) also posted personal bests, ranking eighth and ninth all-time, respectively. Hewitt later placed eighth in the finals with a time of 7.84.
In the 200 meters, Beatrice Boakye turned in one of the meet's top performances for Colby, running a personal-best 24.77 in preliminaries, the third-fastest time in school history, before placing sixth in the finals (25.11). Her preliminary mark was good enough for a NJCAAA qualifier mark. Hewitt added an 11th-place finish in 25.36, moving to sixth all-time, while Yeboah placed 12th (25.37).
Dekanya Webb delivered one of the biggest moments of the meet in the 60-meter hurdles. After qualifying eighth in preliminaries (9.20), she improved to 9.01 in the finals to place seventh, earning All-KJCCC honors while setting a new personal best and breaking the Colby school record.
Randieunna Jeffery highlighted the 400 meters with a seventh-place finish and personal-best time of 59.59, moving to fourth all-time at Colby. Natalia Nangle placed 11th (1:01.40), ranking ninth in school history, while Isabelle Gillham finished 16th.
Distance standout Nadine McIntyre had an impressive meet, placing sixth in the mile with a time of 5:17.34, good for eighth all-time, before finishing fourth in the 3000 meters with a personal-best 10:21.99 that ranks sixth in program history. Blanca Gallegos added a 17th-place finish in the mile.
Colby's 4x400-meter relay team of Boakye, Jeffery, Vine, and Yeboah delivered a historic performance, placing third in 3:55.49. The mark broke the program's previous school record and met National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) qualifying standards.
In the field events, Ragan Mauler placed 11th in the long jump with a mark of 16-05.25, moving to fourth all-time in school history. Karlotta Kattai competed in both throwing events, finishing 18th in the shot put (32-07.75) and 19th in the weight throw (34-02.75), with her weight throw mark ranking eighth all-time at Colby.
The Trojans' ninth-place finish reflected steady improvement across multiple events, highlighted by a school record from Webb in the hurdles, a record-breaking relay performance, and numerous personal-best marks. With several athletes achieving NJCAA qualifying standards and All-KJCCC honors, the Colby women demonstrated continued progress and momentum as they move toward postseason competition.
The momentum now shifts to the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, set for March 6–7 in Topeka and hosted by Washburn University, where the Trojans will look to build on their success at the national level.
