MANHATTAN, Kan. - Colby Community College Track and Field season started this past weekend in Manhattan. The indoor Track and Field meet at Kansas State University's cutting-edge facility was a milestone for Colby College's track team, highlighted by exceptional performances and record-breaking results.
Highlights:
- Van Forbes Jr. (Freeport, Bahamas) qualified in the 60m dash with a personal-best time of 6.82 seconds.
- Beatrice Boakye secured her spot in the 60m dash with a time of 7.73 seconds.
- Anita Afrifa dominated and set school records in 60m and 200m dashes. Afrifa blazed to a remarkable 60m time of 7.30 seconds, surpassing her rival from Barton Community College.
Colby athletes also achieved numerous personal bests across track and field events, showcasing significant progress and determination.
Head Coach Clinton Fletcher expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance: "I am very proud of how the athletes competed this weekend. We had a lot of nervous athletes, but they competed hard when it was time."
Colby Track and Field will look to continue this momentum at their next meet on January 25th at Pittsburg State University in the NAIA and JUCO Challenge.
