GREAT BEND, Kan. - The Colby Community College women's basketball team endured a challenging weekend at the Barton Booster Classic in Great Bend, dropping Friday's (Nov. 14) game to Redlands Community College, 76–31, before falling 87–34 on Saturday (Nov. 15) against No. 15 Grayson College.
The Trojans had a difficult offensive night, shooting 15.8 percent from the field and 2-for-23 from three. Despite the scoring challenges, Dessirae Ulmer provided a bright spot with a team-high seven points, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Easha Potts added six points and seven boards, and Elia Ando chipped in six points and four rebounds off the bench.
Colby battled on the glass, pulling down 37 rebounds, but Redlands' efficiency proved too much. Redlands knocked down 13 threes and shot over 42 percent overall to pull away early.
Against one of the top teams in the country, the Trojans battled throughout but couldn't keep pace with Grayson's balanced scoring and defensive pressure. Dessirae Ulmer led Colby with nine points and eight rebounds, while Jera Kruleski added nine points of her own, knocking down three threes. Paishintz Booker chipped in three points and three assists, and Easha Potts finished with four points and four boards.
The Trojans now turn their attention to conference play, returning home Wednesday (Nov. 19) at 5:30 p.m. to host Independence in the KJCCC opener. Colby finishes non-conference action at 3–3 and will look to halt a three-game skid by finding a rhythm on their home floor.
