Carmack named the Trojans Women's Basketball Assistant Coach
COLBY, Kan. - The Colby Trojans women's basketball team has named Lauren Carmack as assistant coach.
COLBY, Kan. - The Colby Trojans women's basketball team has named Lauren Carmack as assistant coach. Coach Carmack comes to Colby Community College from her position as assistant coach at Sterling College, where they won the KCAC conference championship this season. An Elizabeth Colorado native and Legion High School, Carmack attended Sterling College and competed in the basketball program for four years, advancing to the national tournament each year. Upon graduation with a Bachelor's Degree. She was named a NAIA scholar-athlete for her efforts as a student-athlete at Sterling College. Carmack moved to an assistant role within the program, where she was the head coach for the varsity reserve program. Her position there gave her valuable experience, learning to handle in-game situations and preparing her team. As an assistant, she had a role in all program leadership efforts, including recruiting, scouting, game planning, and academic mentorship of their student-athletes.
"My ambition as an assistant women's basketball coach is rooted in my love for the game and desire to make an impact in young women's lives. The Colby CC women's basketball program is special. More so than basketball, they are great people, and I knew as soon as I got here that it felt like home," stated Coach Carmack.
"I am excited to have Coach Lo joining us and bringing her winning ways to the "WE DO". She will be immersed in all aspects of leading a program and will soon make an impact with our student-athletes and the program as a whole. Her primary tasks will be everything under the sun that we need to continue the growth of our program. Being from the Denver area will allow us to continue gaining traction in our recruiting efforts. She has an opportunity to learn and grow with us and will open new doors for her career, added Coach Spence.
