The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rewarded Trojans cross country sophomore Wesley Banguria as National Male Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after he won the Emporia State Invitational on Sept. 27. He clocked 25:44.3 for the 8k course, almost 35 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor, and more than a minute up on the 2018 defending national champion.
Banguria also earned the honor two weeks ago when he posted a decisive victory at the Colorado College Invitational. From Eldoret, Kenya, he is the only male athlete from Colby to earn USTFCCCA athlete of the week recognition.
The Trojans are currently ranked nineteenth nationally. Both the men and women will run Oct. 12 at the Fort Hays State University Tiger Open.
