WAYNE, Neb. - The Colby Trojans men's track and field team delivered a statement performance at the Wildcat Invite in Nebraska on Friday (Feb. 6), piling up victories, shattering dome records, and climbing both the national rankings and the Trojan record books.
The Trojans were led by a historic day from Kenan Delestre, who produced one of the finest performances in program history. Delestre captured first place in the 1000 meters with a personal-best 2:29.49, establishing a new dome record, ranking 22nd nationally, and moving to sixth all-time in the Colby record book. He capped off his standout meet with another win in the mile, posting a personal-best 4:13.81 that ranks 19th in the nation and vaulted him from 10th to seventh on the program's all-time list.
Colby's middle-distance group continued to dominate in the 600 meters, as Javano Bridgewater earned a second-place finish in 1:20.17. The mark was a personal best, dome record, the 23rd-best time in the nation, and now stands as the third-fastest performance in school history. Alexandre LeRoy followed close behind with a third-place finish in 1:22.74, moving into eighth in the Trojan record book.
The 1000 meters turned into a showcase for the Trojans, with multiple athletes rewriting the dome record. Thomas Calas placed third in 2:30.20, while LeRoy added a fourth-place finish in 2:30.60. Both performances broke the previous dome record, ranked 26th and 31st nationally, and slid into ninth and tenth on Colby's all-time list.
Distance success continued in the 3000 meters, where Enoha Reizabal-Bellanger claimed first place with a time of 8:47.20, ranking 23rd in the nation, while Japhet Kiprono added a strong fourth-place finish to round out the Trojans' presence near the front of the field.
The day concluded in emphatic fashion for Colby, as the 4x400-meter relay of Harley McPherson, Bridgewater, Irad Mixon, and Jairus Turrbiates surged to first place in 3:17.54, a performance that now ranks fifth all-time in the Trojan record book.
By the end of the meet, Colby athletes had recorded multiple dome records, new school records, and numerous national top-30 marks, clear evidence of the momentum building within the Trojan track and field program. With several competitors continuing to climb the national rankings, Colby now turns its attention to the postseason. The Trojans will travel to Pittsburg, Kansas, on Friday (Feb. 20) to compete in the Region VI Indoor Championships lasting two days.
