Trojans Equestrian Ride to Multiple Wins at CSU Western Show
The Colby Community College equestrian team continued its strong fall campaign after a weekend at the Colorado State University Western Show.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Colby Community College equestrian team continued its strong fall campaign after a weekend at the Colorado State University Western Show.
Leading the way for the Trojans was Kairi Quinn, who once again delivered standout rides in both Reining and Open Horsemanship. Quinn placed third in Reining and first in Open Horsemanship on Saturday (Oct. 25) before returning Sunday (Oct. 26) to earn fourth in Reining and repeat as first-place finisher in Open Horsemanship.
In Level 1 Horsemanship, Colby dominated the leaderboards both days. Saturday saw Sidney Morgan claim first place, followed by Paige Freidline in second and Savanah Mertens in fourth. The trio continued their success Sunday, with Freidline earning first and Mertens second.
The Trojans also excelled in Rookie B Horsemanship, where Makenzie Meinhardt and Leigha Fellhoelter placed second and fifth on Saturday, respectively. On Sunday, Kathryn Rush led the charge with a second-place finish, while Meinhardt and Kaytelin Shinkle followed closely in fourth and fifth.
In Rookie A Horsemanship, Lauren Bowles placed fifth and Serena Muser sixth on Saturday, before both riders elevated their performances Sunday, Muser earning first place and Bowles third.
The Beginner Horsemanship group also continued to impress. Joslyn Kimble captured first place on Saturday, with Sarah Carey and Hailey Bolyard tying for fourth. On Sunday, Carey secured first, Bolyard took third, and Kimble rounded out the group in fifth, closing the weekend with another strong showing from Colby's developing riders.
The Trojans thank Colorado State University for hosting a well-run and welcoming competition. Colby now looks ahead to its next show in early December for the hunt seat event.
