Equestrian Team Earns Regional Title
Advance to IHSA semis in Texas
The Colby Community College equestrian team hosted the final western regular season contest and regional competition on Feb. 22 and 23 at the college's equine unit east of Colby. Saturday's show saw several Trojans finish first, and freshman Kairi Quinn captured reserve champion high point rider honors. On Sunday, the Trojans emerged as the regional high-point team for the first time in recent program history.
Third-year team member Jenna Milford was the regional high point champion for the second year in a row. The western team heads on to the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Semi-Finals on March 14-16, hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
"Our team has worked so hard to earn this huge win," said Head Coach Jessica Bugbee, "We're so excited to take individuals and a full team into the postseason."
Colby's hunt seat squad closes the regular season and competes in regionals on March 8 and 9 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
