Ryan Carter is entering his 28th season as the head coach of Trojan Baseball at Colby Community College, boasting an impressive career record of 765 wins. As the winningest coach in program history and CCC’s longest-tenured coach, Carter’s leadership has become synonymous with consistency, development, and competitive excellence.

In 2025, Carter led the Trojans to a 31-win season, highlighted by standout performances from All-American and KJCCC West MVP Isaiah Padilla. Carter was named KJCCC Coach of the Year, marking the third time he has earned the prestigious honor during his tenure. His previous Coach of the Year accolades came in 2011 and 2016.

“It takes a lot of hard work and very dedicated players and coaches to maintain a certain level of accomplishment,” Carter said. “We have players and coaches that believe in our program and continue to work to keep us at a level we have grown accustomed to.”

Throughout his career, Carter has helped 186 players transfer to four-year institutions, including 39 to NCAA Division I programs. Under his guidance, 12 players have been drafted or signed to professional or independent baseball contracts, including Logan Hofmann, Jeremy Gwinn, Daniel Devonshire, Travis Mortimore, T.R. Keating, Kris Jiggitts, Eric Sim, Pat Farrell, Dan April, Sean Lydon, Aaron Dunsmore and Chris Hall.

Carter joined CCC after playing two seasons at the University of Redlands, where he earned All-Conference honors and received the team’s Gold Glove Award for his work behind the plate. Before Redlands, he spent time at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona, redshirting one season and playing two.

Originally from Page, Arizona, Carter was a dual-sport standout at Page High School, earning All-State honors in both baseball and wrestling his senior year.

Carter resides in Colby with his wife Krista, a psychology instructor at CCC. They have two daughters, Kenzie and Ryler.
