Trojan Baseball Earns Multiple 2025 KJCCC Postseason Honors

Sophomore Isaiah Padilla headlined the honors, earning West Division Most Valuable Player and First Team All-KJCCC selections following a dominant season at the plate. Padilla emerged as the offensive leader for the Trojans, compiling a stellar .458 batting average across 49 games, leading the conference and ranking fourth nationally in the NJCAA. He totaled 77 hits in 168 at-bats, drove in 70 runs (tied for third-most in the conference), and displayed impressive power with 17 home runs, 16 doubles, and a triple. His offensive performance produced an .869 slugging percentage and a remarkable 1.421 OPS. Demonstrating excellent plate discipline, Padilla added 12 walks and was hit by a pitch 19 times, contributing to a .552 on-base percentage.
Freshman two-way standout Turner Zdunich was named West Division Freshman of the Year and earned selections to the West Division First Team and All-KJCCC Second Team, while also receiving Honorable Mention as a relief pitcher. Zdunich made an immediate impact in his debut season, batting .407 with 72 hits in 177 at-bats across 55 games. He scored 18 runs and drove in 57, while collecting 13 doubles, three triples, and nine home runs for a .667 slugging percentage and 1.139 OPS. He also drew 18 walks to post a .472 on-base percentage. On the mound, he appeared in 14 games, including six starts, finishing with a 3–4 record and two saves. Over 36.2 innings, Zdunich recorded a 4.17 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP, and struck out 39 batters, highlighted by a complete game shutout in a key conference matchup.
Sophomore Matthew Mackenzie was honored with West Division Second Team recognition as a starting pitcher. Mackenzie started 11 games and finished with a 6.21 ERA, a 1.71 WHIP, and averaged 9.62 strikeouts per nine innings in a solid campaign.
All-KJCCC Honorable Mention honors went to Gavin Galenza (first base) and Tyler Smith (starting pitcher). Galenza appeared in 48 games and made 206 plate appearances, collecting 65 hits, including 17 doubles, six home runs, and a triple. He drove in 30 runs while hitting .394 with a .618 slugging percentage. Smith posted a 7–2 record with a 4.30 ERA in 67.0 innings over 13 starts. He struck out 64 batters and averaged 8.60 K/9, finishing with a WHIP of 1.64.
Head Coach Ryan Carter was named KJCCC Coach of the Year for the third time in his 24-year tenure at Colby. With 700 career wins, Carter holds the program record for most victories and has now led the Trojans to 22 consecutive postseason appearances. His last Coach of the Year honor came in 2016, and this season further solidified his legacy within CCC and the KJCCC.
The postseason honors highlight a successful year for Colby Community College Baseball. With multiple players recognized and Coach Carter reaching a career milestone, the program continues to demonstrate strong performance and consistency within the KJCCC.
