For the second consecutive season the Colby Community College Lady Trojans volleyball team came up short in the Region VI semifinal match to the Seward County Saints. The Lady Trojans fell in four sets Sunday at the Greenhouse in Liberal, 14-25, 25-20, 17-25 and 11-25.
In mid-October CCC was ranked as high as nineteenth in the national polls when some key injuries hit.
"I couldn't be more proud of how our young group handled all the adversity they faced this season," said head coach Carey Jones. They would get knocked down and get right back up every time. My hope is that it only motivates our freshmen to work hard in the off season and come back fighting even stronger next year."
In the Region VI championship game Sunday night, Seward County, ranked No. 3 nationally, was upset in a three-game sweep by Hutchinson.
Colby finishes with a 10-6 record in the Jayhawk Conference and 23-11 overall.
