The teams countered with runs in the middle innings before Butler broke it open with a three-run sixth. Dani Asche and Jennifer Slaughter each had two of Colby's nine hits.
In the second game, Colby fell behind early as Garden City plated five runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady Trojans closed the gap to 6-5 before Garden added two in the sixth and held on to defeat CCC 8-5. Katie Adler and Lou Withers each had two hits for Colby.
